My husband, Greg, was a wonderful model for this image.  He was made to stand still for 3 minutes as I tried to capture this long exposure...

Good Advice
Good Advice

This image was taken at the North Curl Curl Ocean Pool in 2014.  Shortly after I took this series of images, the Pool Closed sign came down and a gate was installed at the top of the stairs going down to the pool.  This gate is now locked during high seas for safety reasons.    While I understand the danger, I feel lucky to have been able to enjoy these storms perched on a nearby rock.

This image was a Finalist in the 2014 Moran Contemporary Photographic Prize.  With an emphasis on "Contemporary Australia", I felt this image taken at the North Curl Curl Ocean Pool represented it well.  The dramatic storm,  two tourists taken by surprise, and three teenagers in the pool, ignoring the "Pool Closed" sign.  Contemporary Australia.
